Tasks
- Planning and following up on the decisions of the Supreme Council for Food Security and assisting the Council in carrying out its tasks.
- Coordinating and aligning all food security activities, programmes, projects and activities with the relevant authorities based on the priorities of the national food security strategy.
- Building institutional capacities and developing staff competencies in the concerned authorities with regard to food security.
- Studying and reviewing documents and reports related to food security activities and submitting information and recommendations thereon to the Supreme Council for approval.
- Providing information and data from various sectors for use in the preparation and implementation of food security activities and programmes.
- Reviewing and evaluating the processes of planning, programming, budgeting, implementation and reporting in relation to food security for all relevant authorities.
- Analyze the data of the Food Security Information System on a regular basis to assist the Council in taking decisions to manage crises by providing information related to production, prices and early warning of food shortages. According to this decision in its second article, the technical secretariat is undertaken by a full-time person with competencies and competencies in agriculture and food security affairs, assisted by a small local team and some Consultations and specialized expertise.
In addition, the Technical Secretariat is currently producing monthly market updates bulletins, market data and information collected from the six governorates targeted by the Food Information Systems Development Project through the technical coordination units in the governorates. The monthly market updates bulletin provides tables and graphs that show the monthly prices in Target governorates markets also provide users with a comparison of current prices with the previous month and the pre-crisis average.
